Marcia Salas was born in San Jose, Costa Rica. She studied Fine Arts in the University of Costa Rica.
She has had 18 solo shows and 71 group exhibits, in her native country and also in Italy, Japan, Ecuador, Honduras and Germany.

Her work is found in public and private collections through Central America, Mexico, Italy, Denmark, Ecuador, Switzerland, Holland, England, Germany, Spain and the U.S.
She has 12 awards, including the Costa Rican National Award to the Arts; the University of Costa Rica Art Prize; the Segnalato " Pantagruel Exlibris" in the Alps Western Culture Traditions Center, in Cuneo, Italy; and a recognition at the "International Postage Stamp Design Contest ", from the Post and Telecommunications Ministry, in Tokyo, Japan.
She was granted, in 2006, a scholarship by the Government of Andalucía, Spain.  Her next solo show will take place in April 2012 at the Municipal Art Center Acorcón in Madrid, Spain.
